Congress MP Nirupam arrested in Mumbai for rioting
Mumbai, Oct 8 (ANI): Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam and party's candidate Bharat Parekh were arrested by the city police on Thursday under charges of unlawful assembly and rioting at Charkop in Suburban Kandivali.
oth Nirupam and Parekh were later released on bail.
Parekh is Congress candidate from the Charkop Assembly constituency.
On Wednesday night, a scuffle broke out between Congress workers and activists from other political parties when the later objected to Nirupam and Parekh's presence at the Laljipada slums in Charkop post midnight.
Nirupam, however, refuted the allegation saying that he had visited the slums after receiving information that certain leaders of other parties threatened people to vote against Parekh. (ANI)
