'BJP needs new leader, Advani not in 2014 polls'
New Delhi, Oct 8: Former BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu said that the party would not participate in the next Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of L K Advani.
He also stressed that the party should find a new leader.
"Advani is not going to contest the next elections. We are not going to fight the next elections under his leadership. Next general elections are going to happen when... you know (2014)," said Naidu.
However, Naidu didn't divulge as to who would next be leading BJP.
"Political parties discuss issues and then come to conclusions according to the need of the hour and by consensus," he said.
The Rajya Sabha MP said Advani was chosen as the Leader of Opposition by BJP for the 15th Lok Sabha.
However, he added, that the decision to step down rested solely upon Advani.
