Pakistan not concerned over proposed US embassy expansion in Islamabad
Islamabad, Oct.7 (ANI): Pakistan has said that it has no objection over the planned expansion of the US embassy in Islamabad.
Briefing a Sub-Committee of National Assembly's Standing Committee on Human Rights, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir said Islamabad is not concerned about the expansion.
Bashir also informed the committee that both US and China have asked for more land for the expansion of their respective embassies in Islamabad.
"The US has requested for 18.5 acres of land for expansion of its embassy, while China has also sought more land for its diplomatic mission," The nation quoted Bashir,as saying.
When asked about the reports regarding the US acquiring 250 houses in Islamabad on rent, he said neither any request was made to Foreign Office (FO) in this regard nor the FO has any information about it.
Bashir also rejected reports regarding private US security firm, Blackwater, operating in Pakistan. (ANI)
