Four militants killed in J-K encounters

Srinagar, Oct 7 (ANI): Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir gunned down at least four militants, including a top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander in two separate gun battles on Wednesday.

According to the police, in one of the encounters in the Ladoo forests region near Pampore town, 30 kilometres off Srinagar, one militant was killed and three security personnel were injured in a grenade attack.

In another encounter that has taken place in Kupwara district, three militants were killed of which one was top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander, identified as Abu Hamza.

"In Pampore and Ladoo, an encounter has been on for the past 4 days. As per our information eight to 10 foreign terrorists are there and they had spread to the area. In the morning, three of our soldiers were injured when the terrorists hurled a grenade.

"One militant is killed and the operation is on and it will continue until all the militants are captured or killed. Similarly, in Handwara jungles, we have gunned down three terrorists and one among them is top LeT commander from Pakistan, named Abu Hamza," said Farooq Ahmad, Inspector General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir.

Both the encounters were carried out by the personnel of Indian Army in coordination with the state police. (ANI)
