China reports its first H1N1 death

Beijing, Oct 7: China reported its first Swine Flu death in the country on Tuesday, Oct 7, a health ministry statement said.

It said, " An influenza A (H1N1) sufferer in its southwestern Tibet region died after efforts to save the sufferer failed."

"This is our first domestic report of a Swine Flu death," the health ministry statement said, which gave no further details on the victim.

According to state-run Xinhua news agency, the victim was an 18-year-old female who entered a hospital in the city on Saturday, Oct 3, with severe flu symptoms.
