Tamil political party wants Sri Lankan envoy sent back

Chennai, Oct 6 (ANI): Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol Thirumavalavan has demanded that the central government should take steps to send back Sri Lankan Deputy High Commissioner Vadivel Krishnamoorthy.

"Krishnamoorthy released a statement against Tamils, it hurt us lot so we strongly condemn the statement. He is following the divide and rule policy among Tamils so the office of the Deputy High Commissioner should not be there. I demand from the government of India to remove this office from Tamil Nadu," Thirumavalavan said.

Krishnamoorthy was recently quoted as saying that the camps of displaced Tamils in Lanka were not zoos to be visited by outside people.

The fate of Sri Lanka's Tamils has often sparked protests in India, including from sympathisers of Tamil separatist militants who were defeated by Sri Lanka's military earlier this year. (ANI)
