Security forces launch manhunt for NDFB militants

Guwahati, Oct 5 (ANI): Army and paramilitary forces have launched a full-scale operation to capture ultras of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), which was involved in Sunday's massacre.

On Sunday, eleven villagers were killed by NDFB militants at Bhimajuli in Assam's Sonitpur District.

Militants armed with sophisticated weapons rode in on motorcycles and opened fire indiscriminately.

Six persons died on the spot, which five others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

Two of the critically injured have been shifted to the Guwahati Medical College.

A massive manhunt has been launched in the jungles bordering Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan.

State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has reviewed the situation arising out of the renewed attack by the outfit at a high-level meeting in Guwahati.

Gogoi has sent state Revenue Minister Bhumidhar Barman, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bharat Narah and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma to assess the situation on the spot.

Sunday's attack was understood to be a fall out of a denial to pay ransom by businessmen of the area. (ANI)
