Pak jails have no place to accommodate surrendered Taliban fighters: Gilani
Islamabad, Oct.3 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has admitted that the country's jails are so full, that they have no place to accommodate Taliban fighters who have surrendered before security forces.
Gilani told the Pakistan Senate that 3000 militants have already surrendered and another 2000 are expected to lay down their arms.
Responding to a point of order, Gilani said Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi would brief the House on the Kerry-Lugar Bill as soon as President Barack Obama approves it.
Commenting on the deepening power crisis in the country, he assured there would no load shedding from 2010, The Daily Times reports.
Referring to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) demand for the resignation of the Water and Power Minister, Gilani said: "If the issue could be resolved through the resignation of any minister or even the prime minister, the government is prepared to do that."
He said the government is pledged to fight all crises facing the nation. (ANI)
