Srinagar, Oct.3 (ANI): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a twelve-year-old boy during a clash between police and protesters in Baramulla on Friday.
Baramulla Deputy Commissioner Latif-u-Zama Deva told a television channel that a thorough inquiry has been ordered into the incident, and added that the culprits, if found guilty, would be brought to book.
Curfew was imposed in Baramulla town in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday following the death of the boy in clashes that erupted after Friday prayers.
According to police, a tense situation prevailed in the town on Saturday.
The boy was injured when police fired a teargas shell to control the mob, which was protesting against the continued house arrest of hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
The dead boy has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Lone.
Hundreds of peoples joined his funeral procession late on Friday and shouted anti-establishment slogans.
To maintain the law and order, the administration has moved in heavy police and paramilitary reinforcements. The administration has also enforced restrictions in adjoining Sopore town, which also witnessed protests after Friday prayers. (ANI)
