Rowling denied honour for promoting sorcery

London, Oct 1: After a slew of plagiarism cases, JK Rowling has now been accused of promoting sorcery and witchcraft.

Author of Speechless: Tales of a White House Survivor' and ex-speechwriter for Bush, Matt Latimer writes that the Harry Potter author who was nominated for a Presidential Medal of Freedom was deprived of the honour as Bush's advisers believed that she 'encouraged witchcraft'.

Latimer has revealed that when Rowling was considered for the honour, the White House officials of the Bush administration raised objection arguing that Rowling promoted sorcery through the protagonist in her novels.

This effectively stopped the author from receiving the US's top civilian award which is given based on a person's contribution to America, world peace or culture.

Latimer who has slammed this kind of a decision by the WH officials as 'narrow thinking' also disclosed the names of other people who have been denied the honour.

According to the book, Senator Edward Kennedy was one among those who were denied the award as he was 'too liberal'.
