India's inflation rises to 0.83 pc

New Delhi, Oct 1: Inflation rose to 0.83 percent for the week ended Sep 19 from 0.37 percent in the previous week.

On the annual basis, prices of potatoes were up by 81 per cent, vegetables by 50 per cent, sugar by 44 per cent, pulses by 20 per cent and rice by 19 per cent.

Food items like fish, spices, pulses, butter and coconut oil got costlier.

The wholesale price-based inflation stood at 12.13 per cent during the corresponding week in 2008.
