Heavy rains flood Karnataka and AP; 45 killed
Bangalore, Oct 1: At least 45 people have died in floods following the heavy showers in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
According to official data, 30 deaths have been reported from Karnataka and 15 from AP. Apart from claiming lives, the floods has drowned scores of villages, damaged crops along with destroying communication and transport links.
Bijapur is the worst affected district in Karnataka with 17 fatalities. Apart from this, Koppal, Bellary, Raichur, Bagalkot and Bidar were other north Karnataka districts that are severely affected by the floods.

A spokesperson of Chief Minister, BS Yeddyurappa has confirmed these figures and reports.
Incessant rains have lashed Andhra Pradesh since Wednesday, Sep 30 disrupting normal life.
Mahabubnagar and Kurnool districts are the worst affected regions in the state as rivulets, streams and tanks overflow.
Acting Chief Minister K Rosaiah who held a high-level meeting on the situation has directed the concerned authorities to evacuate people from low-lying areas.
