'Cong MP, Subba's nationality certificates fake'
New Delhi, Sep 30: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has revealed that MK Subba, the Congress MP from Assam is not an Indian citizen and that his nationality certificate are forged.
Telling the Supreme Court that the MP had given different dates of birth and places of birth to various authorities for different reasons, the CBI found him guilty of various criminal offences.
The apex court had asked the the CBI to probe into the nationality of MK Subba after a public interest litigation (PIL) alleged that he was a Nepalese citizen who fled that country in the 1970s after a murder case was registered against him there.
Subbha's affidavit calimed his his date of birth as March 16 1958 and that he was born in Dadgram village in Darjeeling district of West Bengal and his parents had migrated from Singtam village in Sikkim.
CBI which presented its investigative finding to the court said that a case needed to be filed against the Congress MP for providing fake certificates which were obtained in a fraudulent manner.
