Air India executive pilots call off strike

New Delhi, Sep 30: The Air India executive pilots finally called off their strike on Wednesday, Sep 30.

Capt V K Bhalla, Executive pilot, said, "The strike is being called off in view of assurances by civil aviation minister Praful Patel that status quo will continue on issues."

Bhalla said, "I thank Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who asked Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel to intervene in the strike. We have received official communication from the Government of India that no salary will be cut. So, we call off the strike."

Assuring the media that the executive pilots will cooperate with the airline management, Bhalla said, "All Air India flights will resume."

Bhalla apologised to the passengers, who were at the receiving end since the last five days due to the strike.

He also said that, "a turnaround committee will be set up and that will discuss everything."
