The biggest fads that have failed the test of time
London, Sept 29 (ANI): An ornamental singing fish, shell suits and SodaStream drinks dispensers have topped a new list of the biggest fads that failed to last.
Rhodri Marsden has come out with a book tilled, The Next Big Thing, which lists these everlasting crazes of the Britons.
The Big Mouth Billy Bass, a mounted singing fish introduced in 2000 and which croons kitsch classics like Don't Worry, Be Happy and Al Green's Take Me to the River, has aced the list.
Shell suits, SodaStream fizzy drinks machine, Athena's once ubiquitous Man and Baby poster, Tupperware parties and boil-in-the-bag dinners appear in the top ten bracket.
"All throughout history, right back to ancient civilisations, we have been prone to jumping on a bandwagon and collectively deciding that something is a great idea, while somehow managing to suppress any niggling thoughts in the back of our minds that it might not be that great after all," Marsden was quoted by the Scotsman, as saying.
Marsden believes reality TV and social networking site Twitter will also die out soon. (ANI)
