Philippines landmine blast kills US soldiers
Jolo, Sep 29: While parts of the country is trying to deal with the floods, a landmine blast rocked the southern Philippines island of Jolo killing two US soldiers and a Filipino soldier.
The US troops was training Filipino soldiers in combat and counterterrorism to equip them in the battle against the Abu Sayyaf group, which is believed to have planted the landmine.
This accounts for the first American fatality reported from the region after the troops were deployed in 2002.
