Kathmandu, Sep 28 (ANI): Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said his visit to the United States and participation in the United Nations General Assembly has been successful.

Speaking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on arrival today, Madhav Kumar Nepal said his 23-member delegation was able to generate support and solidarity from the international community for peace and stability here.

He said that his visit strengthened Nepal's relations with other countries.

Some of the achievements, Madhav Kumar said were the US government's announcement to increase financial assistance to Nepal, UN's request for increasing Nepali security forces in the UN peace keeping missions across the globe and international community expressing commitments to support Himalayan countries including Nepal to fight the climate change.

Earlier, addressing a function organised by US chapter of the National Federation of the Indigenous Nationalities in New York last night, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal rejected the Maoist proposal for parliamentary debate on President's move to reinstate army chief sacked by the then Maoist-led government.

He said Constitution has restricted such debates. He alleged the CPN (Maoist) of dragging the president into controversy.

While Maoist leaders are claiming that the current coalition government will be pulled down shortly, he said government under his leadership will complete the task of concluding the peace process and writing Constitution, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
