Two criminals killed in encounter in Gurgaon
Gurgaon (Harayna), Sept 26 (ANI): Police in Gurgaon claimed to have killed two criminals during an encounter when they took eight members of a family as hostages.
The criminals had barged into the house of Anup Chaturvedi, who is a manager of the Maruti Udyog Limited and took members of the family as hostages late last night.
Police said that eight members of a family, including two children, were taken hostages in their own house in Palam Vihar area of the district.
As per reports, one of the hostages managed to call police after which the encounter took place. Two of their accomplices also managed to escape, as per reports.
"We warned them several times. But when they did not surrender after several warnings, police came into action. They broke the lock of the door by firing. The moment door opened, they started firing and police fired in their own defence during which two of them have been injured," said Anil Dhawan, Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The two criminals were declared dead in the hospital.
According to police, two country-made pistols, a knife and a mobile phone have been recovered from the slain criminal suspects.
Further investigations are on to find the identity of the criminals and their motive behind the incident. (ANI)
