Powerful blast rocks Peshawar, six killed

Peshawar, Sep.26 (ANI): Just hours after a suicide strike targeted a police station in Bannu, a powerful bomb blast rocked Peshawar on Saturday killing at least six persons besides injuring many others.

The explosion occurred in Saddar area of Peshawar near a private bank, The News reports.

The intensity of the blast could be gauged from the fact that several vehicles parked in the parking lot of the bank were badly damaged and left mangled.

Relief and rescue teams have rushed to the spot and the injured are being shifted to hospitals nearby.

Security officials have cordoned-off the blast site and were trying to determine the nature of the explosion till reports last came in.

Earlier, in the morning five persons were killed and 20 others injured in a suicide strike in Bannu.

According to television reports, the attackers targeted a police station.

Attackers crashed a mini-truck loaded with explosives into the police station building destroying it completely.

Eye witnesses said the blast was so powerful that it created an eight-foot deep crater on the attack site.

The casualties are expected to rise as several injured policemen are stated to be in critical condition.

No terrorist group has claimed the responsibility for the attack. (ANI)
