Pope Benedict XVI blames TV, cinema for promoting secular lifestyles
London, Sept 26 (ANI): Pope Benedict XVI has slammed television and cinema for increasing divorce rates and promoting secular lifestyles.
While speaking to Brazilian bishops visiting the Vatican, Pope said children had "too many mothers and fathers" and "no proper parents to support them."
He added, "Society should be based on traditional Christian values."
"Children of a broken marriage feel like orphans, not because they are without parents but because they have too many," the Daily Express quoted him as saying.
He added that a family should be based on the "union in marriage between a man and a woman" and that the Catholic Church could not remain indifferent to the breakdown of traditional partnership.
"I would appeal to families not to be seduced and taken in by a relative lifestyle that is seen in the cinema and on television," he said.
"Instead they should try and live like the Holy Family," he added. (ANI)
