Containing H1N1: Rs 1000 fine for spitting in Pune
Pune, Sep 26: In yet another attempt to contain Swine Flu, Pune has announced a fine of Rs 1000 for spitting in public places around the city.
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) announced the hike from present Rs 25 to Rs 1000 with effect from on Saturday, Sep 26.

PMC commissioner Mahesh Zagde who issued the order using special powers vested in him under Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporation Act to deal with epidemics, said this step was taken after learning that H1N1 virus can 'remain alive in sputum for eight to nine hours'.
The nuisance detection squads of civic administration will implement this rule and take action against the offenders.
