Chidambaram assures continued support to Chhattisgarh govt. to defeat extremism
Raipur, Sep 25 (ANI): Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Friday assured continued support to the Chhattisgarh government to fight left wing extremism.
Chidambaram who is on a day long visit to Chhattisgarh, said that the fight against left wing extremism is a 'long drawn fight'.
"Central Government will provide support in every way to curb and defeat extremism," he added.
In his brief visit, he reviewed the preparations for the operations to be started against the Maoists.
Referring to the July 12 incident in which 29 police personnel, including Superintendent of Police V.K. Choubey, were killed in a Maoist attack, he said the state government had taken prompt action to provide relief to the relatives of the killed.
Later in the day he will visit Ranchi to hold similar deliberations as an effort to root out Naxalism from the country. (ANI)
