Accountant suing PwC for making her feel "like a prostitute" gets only 750 pound payout
London, Sep 25(ANI): Mihaela Popa, a former accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), who had sued the company of a record 40 millions pounds for race discrimination, constructive unfair dismissal and wrongful dismissal in 2007, has been compensated with a meager 750 pounds.
A tribunal ruled that Popa, who claimed that the firm made her feel "like a prostitute," was given an unfair reference by PwC after resigning from her 41,000 pounds-a-year job in 2006, but it did not prevent her from getting a 66,000 pounds- a-year job in 2008 or cause her any financial loss, the Daily Star reports.
The 31-year old Romanian, worked as a judiciary accountant for PwC in London between 2004 and 2006.
Earlier, she had alleged that she was constantly the victim of racial attacks and that the treatment she received became increasingly unbearable forcing her to resign.
Popa has also launched a string of other legal actions, including cases against subsequent employers UBS and Credit Suisse, and a barrister. (ANI)
