Taliban bomb co-ed primary school in Peshawar
Peshawar, Sep.23 (ANI): Extremists have bombed a co-ed primary school in Peshawar destroying the three room building completely, Pakistani security officials said.
There were no immediate reports of any casualty in the bombing as the school was closed on the occassion of Eid -ul-Fitr.
"The school building, which consisted of three rooms, was destroyed in the blast," The Nation quoted local police official Hamzullah Khan, as saying.
Khan pointed out that the bombing could have been the handiwork of the Taliban which has destroyed several girls' schools in the region opposing women education.
Provincial education official Mohammad Nisar also confirmed the school bombing.
The Taliban has bombed scores of schools and other education centers in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) over the past two years.
Over 200 schools have been destroyed in the Swat Valley alone in the last couple of years since the beginning of the Taliban's violent campaign to enforce Islamic law (sharia) in the region. (ANI)
