Prince William says he doesn't want to be 'an ornament' in royal duties

London, September 23 (ANI): Prince William has said his idea of royal duties was not to be "an ornament".

The second in line to the British throne confessed at a St James' Palace forum that "there is a place" for shaking hands on official visits but he would rather be more involved than just "turning up and opening things".

The 27-year-old also honoured the charitable work done by his parents the Prince of Wales or the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

"What I try to do is take the best bits of my mother's charitable work and the best bits of my father's charitable work and do them both together," the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

"I'm not in their league, but I'm warming up, hopefully, and I'm trying to do what I can," he added.

William also credited his grandmother, the Queen for inspiring him, saying: "How she's gone about things and how she cares about areas of life and people is particularly important." (ANI)
