Pak asks US to pay money spent fighting terror
New York, Sep 23: Pakistan's fresh financial plea to United States includes a whooping 1.6 billion dollars as a reimbursement for the money the country spent on the fighting terror.
Pakistan President, Asis Ali Zardari reportedly made this appeal to US in two separate meetings in New York with US officials, including special Af-Pak envoy Richard Holbrooke.
He also appealed for an early payment of about 6 billion dollars pledged to Pakistan at a Tokyo donors" conference to help the country overcome its economic crisis.
US which pays Pakistan for the anti-militant operations from a special account called the Coalition Support Fund approved aid of 2.376 billion dollars on Monday, Sep 21.
This comes amid the controversy that Pakistan has been misusing these funds and bolstering its defense capabilities against India.
