Bharti Walmart, Coca Cola go on plantation drive

Amritsar, Sep 23: Carrying forward its commitment to sustainable development, Bharti Walmart has given ten pushcarts to unemployed and economically disadvantaged along with joining hands with Coca Cola for a plantation drive.

In a bid to provide employment oppurtunity to the economically backward, the company donated pushcarts to impoverished people around its cash-and-carry store, Best Price Modern Wholesale.

These pushcart owners have also been signed up as members of the store. With this, they can obtain fresh goods from the store and run their own business.

Apart from this, collaborating with the leading beverage maker, Coca Cola the company will be planting over 2000 saplings in and around Best Price Modern Wholesale in Amritsar.

This initiative will also bolster Bharti Walmart"s project, in partnership with Amritsar Municipal Corporation, to adopt and manage the road stretch from Taranwala Bridge up to the end point of Amritsar Municipal Corporation.

Speaking on these initiatives Mr. Raj Jain, Managing Director and CEO, Bharti Walmart Pvt. Ltd. said, “Bharti Walmart is committed to giving back to the community it serves. These initiatives underscore our belief and culture of caring for the community and the environment."

Expressing happiness over the partnership with Coca-Cola, he added, "Our 'Go Green" project, in partnership with Amritsar government officials, underscores our long-term commitment to the development of Amritsar."
