President's son gets Cong ticket to contest polls

New Delhi, Sep 22: President Pratibha Patil's son Rajendra Shekhawat has been given Congress ticket from Amrawati constituency for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls.

According to sources, Rajendra alias Raosaheb got the ticket after an intense fighting with Maharashtra Minister of State for Finance Sunil Deshmukh, who won it by over 32,000 votes in 2004.

Sources said Deshmukh was replaced by the novice Raosaheb as he is the president's son.

Amravati was once represented by Raosaheb"s father Devisingh Shekhawat.
