Pak Taliban commander Qasab dies in jail
Islamabad, Sep 20: A top Taliban commander, who was captured after being injured seriously in a gun battle with security forces, succumbed to his wounds, the military said here on Sunday, Sep 20.
"Sher Mohammad Qasab, who had multiple bullet wounds, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning," the military said in a statement.
A team of army doctors was treating Qasab but "he could not survive," the statement said.
Qasab, who was carrying a reward of Rs 10 million on his head offered by the NWFP government, was a close aide of Maulana Fazlullah, the chief of the Taliban in Swat.
Qasab was the third high-profile Taliban commander to be arrested in Swat after militant spokesman Muslim Khan and commander Mahmood Khan.
