Global H1N1 death toll mounts to 3,486

Geneva, Sep 19: With as many as 281 H1N1 deaths across the world over the period of a week, global swine flu death toll has reached 3,486, the World Health Organisation said on Friday, Sep 18.

The Americas region continues to be the epicenter of the pandemic with about 2,625 deaths being posted from there. While Europe posted 140 deaths, Asia-Pacific reported 620.

Africa has suffered up to 40 fatalities due to Swine flu and Middle-East reports 61 deaths.

Meanwhile, France and Japan have reported that the flu has reached epidemic levels.
