Negotiations between 'friendly' countries, not 'deal' offered 'safe exit' to Musharraf : Malik
Islamabad, Sep.17 (ANI): Pakistan Interior Advisor Rehman Malik has said that former President General Pervez Musharraf's ouster from the Presidency was a result of negotiations involving some 'friendly countries' and it was wrong to term it as a 'deal'.
Malik said the negotiations were in the larger interest of the country and democracy.
"Few of our friendly countries leveled the surface for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan and negotiations were held with Musharraf on transfer of power with their reference. But it can not be termed as a deal," Malik said.
Malik said that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) was never a part of any agreement with Musharraf.
He also rejected reports that Musharraf's future was being discussed with the Saudi King Abdullah by the Pakistani leadership.
"Pakistan Peoples Party has neither entered in any deal with former President General Pervez Musharraf nor was his future discussed with Saudi King in the near past," The Nation quoted Malik, as saying. (ANI)
