New Delhi, Sep 17: Senior lawyers of the Supreme Court will meet Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily on Thursady, Sep 17 to discuss the allegation of corruption against Karnataka Chief Justice PD Dinakaran.

The lawyers have already complained to the Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan after which the CJI summoned Justice Dinakaran to Delhi.

Balakrishanan sought explanation on the allegation of aquring huge assets disproportionate to his income and favouring some criminals.

Constitutional expert Fali Nariman said a probe should be carried out to see whether the allegations against Justice Dinakaran are true or not.

"The bar does not have the right to appoint judges, nor to veto judges" appointment," Nariman said.

"All the power that we have if at all is to warn, to tell the highest judiciary that look there is some danger in this person, and if there is some danger in that person then I believe that an investigations have to be made privately to know whether the allegations are right or not," said Nariman.

A letter written by lawyers of the Madras High Court and signed by four senior advocates of the Supreme Court - Shanti Bhushan, Anil Divan and Ram Jethmalani and Nariman - made serious allegations against Justice Dinakaran and advised that he shouldn't be promoted to the apex court.
