UPA's 'austerity 'drives Nilekani to K'taka Bhavan

Bangalore, Sep 16: After ministers like SM Krishna and Shashi Tharoor, UPA's austerity drive managed to drive the Unique Identification Database Authority of India (UIDAI) head, Nandan Nilekani out of five star suites and into the Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi.

The former Infoscion quit his post in Infosys to take charge of the government's Unique ID project and therefore holds a cabinet rank too.

Nilekani who has been living in 5-star hotels or putting up with friends in the nation's capital until now, moved into government accommodation on Monday, Sep 14, reports Times of India.

He is constantly travelling between New Delhi and Bangalore, as the tech team he is working with is based in Bangalore.

Nilekani who spends about 3 nights a week in New Delhi, has been allotted the house - No. 2, Safdarjung Lane.
