Austerity Drive: Sonia sets an example

New Delhi, Sep 14: Congress President, Sonia Gandhi decided to set an example of austerity by flying economy class to Mumbai .

Quoting sources reports say that Sonia Gandhi who travelled to Mumbai on Monday, Sep 14 to attend a rally flew economy class.

Party president who is also the UPA chairperson has been behind the austerity drive forcing the cabinet members to choose to be non indulgent ways while the country faces adverse conditions like drought and spiralling prices.

This drive is quickly gaining support from the members of the party. While Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday, Sep 12 flew to Kolkata economy class, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna on Sunday, Sep 13 said that he will not take private aircraft.

Sharad Pawar who was initially reluctant on adopting the measures also flew economy class in a private airline on Sunday, Sep 13.
