Yamuna floods threatens villages around Delhi
New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): The Delhi Administration has swung into action to rescue villagers dwelling on the banks of the River Yamuna on Saturday
The river swelled close to danger level following incessant rains in the catchments areas.
According to official sources, the water level in Yamuna had reached 204.55 meters on Saturday morning.
The Delhi administration has asked the people living on the Yamuna bank and in the lower areas to move to safer places.
The officials expect that the water level is likely to reach 205.05 meters - above the danger mark by this evening.
The Delhi Administration has deployed 13 boats and 42 divers at various places along the river help the people to move to safer places.
A continuous shower for the past 48 hours around Delhi has bridged the deficiency gap in the monsoon this season. The city has received 576.8 mm rain this season as against a normal of 578.1 mm. (ANI)
