Mukherjee to talk to West Bengal on IT project
New Delhi, Sep 12: Days after the state scrapped a proposed IT township project, Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee said that he will speak to the West Bengal government on allocating land to the IT majors like Wipro and Infosys.
"I will talk to state government to see if land is provided to the companies," Pranab Mukherjee said on Friday, Sep 12.
Pointing out that the setting up IT majors in the state would easily provide at least 5,000 to 10,000 people with employment, the minister said, "It is unfortunate. It does not convey a good signal."
On Monday, Sep 7 scrapped the proposed IT township at Rajarhat near Salt Lake citing land allocation issues.
