New Delhi, Sep 12: Pranab Mukherjee who has been the mouthpiece of the UPA government's austerity drive, on Saturday, Sep 12 travelled to Kolkata economy class.
Speaking to the media after taking a economy class flight of Spice Jet, the Finance Minister said that he is used to travelling by economy class and he enjoys it too.
Pranab Mukherjee has been asking the cabinet members to follow austere measures as the country is going through a rough time financially.
In the first instance of implementing austerity, Mukherjee on Tuesday, Sep 8 asked two external affairs ministers, SM Krishna and Shashi Tharoor to move out of their 5 star hotel rooms to government accommodation.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Sep 11 said that the ministers have been asked to travel economy class and restrain from holding press conferences in 5-star hotels.
