Rahul wants Congress to rule TN
Chennai, Sep 9: In his three-day Tamil Nadu trip, Rahul Gandhi, the AICC General Secretary urged the state party leaders to lessen dependence on the the two Dravidian major parties and instead gain the power, which Congress had lost to the DMK in 1967.
"Don't continue to ride on the back of two major Dravidian parties (DMK and AIADMK). Work hard and refurbish the image of the party," said Gandhi.
He added that regaining the lost power would only be possible if the cadres rose above factional politics and worked hard towards the development of people.
Rahul also stressed that inner-party elections right from panchayat level should be conducted immediately to lend a new image to the party.
Earlier, several Congressmen demanded that the high command should ask the DMK to share power with the Congress in the state.
They also wanted them to front head the 2011 Assembly polls.
