Cong wants Wipro, Infy cos to stay back in WB
Kolkata, Sep 10: Two days after the West Bengal government had cancelled the Wipro and Infosys projects at Rajarhat, Congress on Thursday, Sep 10, said they should be given alternate land elsewhere in the state.
"We want companies like Wipro and Infosys to stay back and set their shops in the state. The government should provide them alternative land elsewhere," WBPCC working president Pradip Bhattacharje said.
Earlier the state IT department, in wake of Vedic Village controversy, said, "We are unable to stick to our assurances of providing land to Infosys and Wipro."
It also said, "The government had assured 90 acres each to Infosys and Wipro in the project and signed MoUs with the two companies in 2008."
