Madurai: Blast near Rahul Gandhi meeting venue

Madurai, Sep 8: A bomb detonated at corporation office in Madurai, just 1 km away from Rahul Gandhi's meeting venue killing a 60-year-old woman. Initial reports say that the woman is suspected to have carried the bomb to the venue.

According to eyewitness accounts, the woman was accompanied by a boy and a man. Police has arrived on the spot.

As of now, no decision has been taken on whether Rahul Gandhi's meeting will still take place or not.

This comes amid, the bomb scare at five buildings in New Delhi. An anonymous caller warned the Delhi police of possible blasts at five places in the city including Income Tax Office building, Safdarjung Hospital and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, the New Delhi Railway Station, and the NDMC building.

Building are being evacuated and intensive search operations are on.
