Darjeeling violence kills 1

Darjeeling, Sep 7: Darjeeling, 'the queen of hills' once again witnessed violence when one got killed when supporters of rival camps of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) and the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) combated.

The violence triggered off when a GJM affiliated faction were throwing stones at GNLF strongman Subhash Ghising's house in Lalkuthi, Darjeeling.

It is reported that matters took a turn when rival groups attacked people, who were sitting on a dharna.

The 120-strong newly constituted Commando Force,along with the Combat Force, RAF and additional forces were placed in various sensitive areas like Chowk Bazaar and Singhmari to control the situation.
