Nepal expresses regret over Indian priests attack

Kathmandu, Sep 5: Nepal government expressed regret and assured protection to the two Indian priests, who were attacked by Maoists at Pashupatinath Temple on Thursday, Sep 4.

"This is very sad and most regrettable to attack Indian priests inside the holy temple which is the centre of faith for millions of Hindus across the world," Nepal's Cultural Minister Minindra Rijal said.

Nearly 50 Maoists posing as worshipers entered the shrine and thrashed the priests Girish Bhatta and Raghavendra Bhatta, tearing their clothes and sacred threads. Both the priests belong to Karnataka.

Minister Rijal also apologized to the visiting devotees as they faced inconvenience due to the attack on the priests.
