Maoists abuse Indian priests at Pashupatinath
Nepal, Sep 5: A group of Maoists posing as worshipers beat up two newly-appointed Indian priests at Pashupatinath temple, Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
The police reported that the priests Girish Bhatta and Raghamendra Bhatta hail from Karnataka. They added that four policemen were injured when they tried to rescue these priests.
Recently, the Maoists were protesting against Indians being hired as priests and insisted that locals should be recruited for the purpose.
Members of Maoists supported 'Struggle Committee', formed to place Nepalese priests at Pashupatinath threatened an agitation if Indian priests were hired.
