Gujarat HC lifts ban on Jaswant's book

Ahmedabad, Sep 4: According to the latest news reports, the Gujarat High Court has lifted the ban that was imposed Jaswant Singh's book, 'Jinnah: India Independence Partition' by the Gujarat government.

The Gujarat high court on Friday, Sep 4 passed this judgement citing that the ban curtails the fundamental rights.

Speaking to the media, the lawyer revealed that the High Court opined that the Gujarat Government had not even read the book before issuing a notification to ban it.

This means the book will be now made available across the state in book stores.

Earlier the bench comprising of Chief Justice KS Radhakrishnan, Justice Akil Kureshi and Justice KM Thaker denied to give the Narendra Modi government more time to formulate new notification to continue its prohibition.

On Aug 19, the BJP government in Gujarat banned the book on Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah citing that the book questioned the patriotism of the Indian leaders like Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
