Profile: Noncontroversial leader K Rosaiah
With the sudden and sad demise of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Rajashekhara Reddy, the current state finance minister K Rosaiah was declared the caretaker CM for the state.
Konijeti Rosaiah who is the senior most cabinet member began his political career in 1968. The 70-year-old has vast political experience and belongs to the Vysya community and not to the usual Reddy community.
Over the years he has held six public offices. He was the member of the Legislative council from 1968 to 1985. From 1977 to 1979 he was the Chairman of AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.
Rosaiah was the Leader of Opposition in the AP Legislative Council twice (1978 to 79 and 1983 to 1985). He held the position of Minister of Roads and Buildings, Housing, Transport between Oct 1979 to Jan 1983.
Before he assumed the charge of the portfolio of Finance, Planning and Legislative Affairs in May 2009, he was the Minister for Finance and Transport.
The noncontroversial sees support from the people who believe that the current projects would be completed under his leadership.
Also the fact that the any other CM means that the current projects would have to be scrapped reaffirms that K Rosaiah is right for the state of Andhra Pradesh.
