India: Inflation rises marginally to -0.21 pc

New Delhi, Sep 3: India's inflation rate for the week ended Aug 22 stands at - 0.21 per cent. Even though it marginally raised from the previous week's - 0.95 per cent, it continues to dwell in the negative zone for twelve consecutive weeks.

According to the official data released on Thursday, Sep 3, the price indices for all major commodity groups rose for the week ended Aug 22.

The index for primary articles rose 0.7 per cent to 270.4 (provisional), and the index for manufactured products rose 0.5 per cent to 207.5 (provisional). The price index for fuel surged 1.5 per cent to 343.3 (provisional).

The revised annual inflation rate actually stood at minus 1.09 per cent or the week ended June 27.
