H1N1: Pune child dies; 9 new cases in India

New Delhi, Sep 1: Pune continues to reel under Swine flu as the city's death toll mounts to 32 with the death of a seven-year-old child reported on Tuesday, Sep 1.

Seven-year-old, Priyanka Shimilkar succumbed to the H1N1 virus after she was admitted to the Sassoon Hospital on Aug 29.

According to official data, nine new cases tested positive on Tuesday, Sep 1, out of which eight were from Pune and 1 from Cochin, Kerala.

Out of the eight cases in Pune, seven cases are contacts of previously reported positive cases while the eighth case is that od a a 3 year old male who travelled from New York, USA in Jul 2009.

The case in Cochin is a 24 year old male who is a contact of a previously reported positive case, a Helth Ministry's statement said.
