Suicide attack in Pak's Swat kills 15 policemen
Islamabad, Aug 30: At least 15 security personnel were killed and several others injured in a suicide attack on a police station in Pakistan's northwestern Swat Valley on Sunday, Aug 30.
The attack took place when a suicide attacker blew himself up on the training ground near the police station where the security personnel had gathered for a training session.
The attacker reached the training ground and blew himself among the trainee policemen killing 15 people on the spot besides injuring many, The News reports.
Curfew has been imposed in the area following the attack. This was the second suicide attack targeting security personnel in less than a week.
On Thursday, Aug 27, 22 Khasadar Force personnel were killed and 20 others were injured in Torkham area of Khyber Agency in a suicide attack.
"We claim responsibility for the blast. This is our first response since the death of our chief Baitullah Mehsud. We will continue similar attacks in the future also," TTP spokesman Azam Tariq had said.
