Haj pilgrims forced to pay extra money

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 27: A CNN-IBN special investigation revealed that travel agents and tour operators controlling the Haj quota coerce the devotees to pay higher fees.

Alhiad, an agency based in Kerala claims of procuring the largest Haj allowances. The Alhinad official website brags of 30 offices all around the world.

"We are the number one Haj and Umra handling agent in India," said Biju Varghese, Branch Manager of Alhind Travels.

With more irregularities in government's notice, people are demanding a check in the Haj allocation system.

"We recommend to the honourable Prime Minister to bring reforms in the Haj administration," said Rahman Khan, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
