Miss Venezuala takes home Miss Universe 2009 title

Bahamas, Aug 24: Impressing the 12 member judging panel and beating 84 contestants Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez inherited the crown of Miss Universe 2009 from Dayana Mendoza on Sunday, Aug 23 night.

18-year-old Stephania is the sixth Venezuelan to win the crown. Like her predecessor Dayana Mendoza, Stephanie too is expected to travel around the world as an advocate for HIV AIDS awareness.

Miss Dominican Republic, Ada Aimee de la Cruz, was named the runner up.

The title of Miss Congeniality went to Miss China, Wang Jingyao. Miss Thailand, Chutima Durongdej, was named Miss Photogenic.
